Russian President Vladimir Putin received in the Kremlin the President of the Renaissance of the Republic of Madagascar Mikael Randrianirina, who arrived in Russia on an official visit (19 February 2026).
The agenda includes the state and prospects of Russian-Malagasy cooperation in various fields, as well as a number of topical issues on the international and regional agenda.

V.V. Putin: Dear Mr. President! Dear friends! Allow me to warmly welcome you to Russia.
Next year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries (I think it was in 1972). Relations have always been equal, and now I can say that Madagascar is one of the important partners in Africa.
Mr. President, I would like to begin our meeting with words of condolences in connection with the two cyclones that have affected more than 270,000 people, more than 40 people died. Russia on its part is making the necessary efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to your people and your country.
It is well known and we can see that your government is taking significant steps to improve the situation in the country at large. We have good prospects for further strengthening of bilateral ties in the political sphere. A representative delegation from Madagascar visited Russia recently.
I hope today we will be able to discuss all issues of mutual interest.
I would like to note out that we have many interesting areas of interaction: agriculture, geological research, energy, medicine, health care, education – your young people are training in higher educational institutions in Russia, many have already received higher education and good qualifications.
We are ready to develop this humanitarian relationship beyond – as well as working with you on international platforms, including first and foremost the United Nations.
Dear Mr. President! We are very glad to see you in Moscow. Welcome.
